Capt. Bill Smith grew up fishing for striped bass, bluefish, tuna and swordfish on Eastern Long Island. In 1987 he received his USCG 100 ton license and since then has run boats in the Caribbean, Central and South America, Mexico, the West Coast, The Pacific Northwest, the Bahamas’ and throughout New England. In addition, he has made over 100 deliveries from Maine to the Caribbean in boats of various types and sizes to 89 feet.

Bill has also skippered many boats in various locations for private owners in over 200 tournaments for billfish, tuna and inshore species placing in the top 6 in about 70% of them. His fishing prowess is equal to his abilities as a captain and his two sons, both expert anglers themselves, now often can be found in the cockpit giving Bill directions, wiring, gaffing, rigging and helping anglers land fish.

Bill has run a wide variety of boats for private owners both part and full time. Many of these owners used their boats to entertain high level business associates or family and required a high level of discretion.

As part of his job, Bill has been responsible for insuring that numerous high level VIP’s had a pleasurable experience on the water. Before he rerigged his sportfishing boat to a cruising boat, he caught Grammy Award winning singer Billy Joel his first tuna and swordfish, almost losing a finger in the process. In fact that trip they caught 15 tuna and because he didn’t sue Billy for his injury, a long standing and mutually respectful friendship began.

Bill’s knowledge of boats, waters, people and fishing are second to none. If you are looking for a captain with exceptional experience who is above responsible, has unquestionable integrity, and is DRUG and ALCOHOL FREE
