Capt. Bill Smith grew up fishing for striped bass, bluefish, tuna and swordfish on Eastern Long Island. In 1987 he received his 100 ton license and since then has run boats throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America, Mexico, the West Coast, The Pacific Northwest, the Bahamas’ and throughout New England. In addition, he had made over 100 deliveries from Maine to the Caribbean.
Bill has skippered many boats in various locations for private owners in tournaments for billfish, tuna and inshore species placing in the top 6 in about 70% of them. His fishing prowess is equal to his abilities as a captain and his two sons now often can be found in the cockpit wiring, gaffing, rigging and helping anglers land fish.
Bill has run many boats for private owners both part and full time. Many of these owners used their boats to entertain business associates or family.
As a result, Bill has been responsible for insuring that numerous high level VIP’s had a pleasurable experience on the water. He also caught Grammy Award winning singer Billy Joel his first tuna and swordfish, almost losing a finger in the process and because he didn’t sue Billy, a long standing and mutually respectful friendship began.
Bill’s knowledge of boats, waters, people and fishing are second to none. If you are looking for a captain with exceptional experience who is above responsible, has unquestionable integrity, and is drug and alcohol free, Bill Smith is your man.
